The weight room can be a scary place for many girls. A lot of you ladies have expressed anxiety and stress about venturing into the male-dominated area of the gym. I know it can seem very intimidating at first…. but honestly the first step is the hardest!!! You will NOT regret walking into that weight room once you start to see results and feel how strong you are getting!
The first time I went into the weight room, I”ll admit I was nervous. I got some “looks” from the guys.. whether those looks were disapproving or not, I’ll never be sure. Either way I realize looking back, it didn’t matter! If I had never gone into that weight room, I wouldn’t be where I am now.. mentally OR physically! Keep in mind we ALL have to start somewhere. Just because you are not lifting heavy yet, doesn’t mean you won’t be eventually!!!!
I went to the gym yesterday at a time I don’t usually go… so of course it was PACKED and full of guys who have never seen me there before. I’ll admit it… I felt a little awkward and I caught plenty of them staring. But it was sweet satisfaction when I waited patiently for the same weights the boys were using. ;) They got over the initial surprise of having a female step into their seemingly “boys-only clubhouse” and continued with their workouts. They left me alone and we stayed out of each others way.
I get this question a lot… so I want you ladies to know you are NOT alone! =)
